1. A chemical controller for an aquatic application, comprising:an output relay coupled to a pump, the pump configured to introduce at least one chemical into the aquatic application, and the chemical controller being designed to control the operation of the pump using the output relay;
a current fault detection device configured to output a current fault signal indicative of an occurrence of a current fault condition, the current fault condition comprising a condition where a current exists on an output of the output relay while the output relay is instructed to be deactivated via a corresponding relay enable signal;
a relay drive circuit configured to activate and deactivate the output relay via the relay enable signal; and
a switching mechanism coupled between the current fault detection device and the relay drive circuit, the switching mechanism being designed to control the relay drive circuit based on the current fault signal.
