1. An access point comprising:a processor; and
a non-transitory computer-readable data medium comprising instructions of a computer program stored thereon, which when executed by the processor configure the access point to:
transmit to at least one terminal at least a width of a contention window that said terminal is to observe for transmitting a packet on a channel after expiration of a fixed time interval during which the terminal observes that the channel is free;
receive data packets transmitted by said terminal in compliance with a multiple access protocol, the multiple access protocol including carrier detection and taking into account said width of the contention window, and wherein said transmitted packets are coded using an erasure code, each coding operation with the erasure code being applied on n successive packets to recover erased packets, wherein n denotes a length of the erasure code; and
decode the received data packets.
