Claim of US Patent No. 10,512,100

1. A method for requesting downlink (DL) pilots by a user device, the method comprising: receiving, via a transceiver of the user device and over a wireless connection, a DL schedule for receiving data from a base station; determining, based at least in part on the DL schedule, a requested DL pilot (DLP) schedule, the requested DLP schedule indicating requested DLPs for transmission within a portion of the data; transmitting, via the transceiver of the user device and over the wireless connection, an indication of the requested DLP schedule; receiving, via the transceiver of the user device and over the wireless connection, the portion of the data including one or more transmitted DLPs on a transmission DLP schedule, the transmission DLP schedule being based at least in part on the indication of the requested DLP schedule; and decoding the portion of the data, the decoding based at least in part on the one or more transmitted DLPs.
