Claim of US Patent No. 10,397,925

1. A method of supporting a direct communication between mobile devices, the method comprising:receiving, by a first mobile device and from an evolved NodeB (eNB), configuration information associated with a direct data transmission to one or more mobile devices, the configuration information comprising information of a resource selection mode for a direct data transmission, the information of a resource selection mode indicating a resource pool from which the first mobile device selects a resource for a direct data transmission to a second mobile device;
identifying, based on a discovery procedure, target identities of a plurality of target mobile devices including the second mobile device;
mapping a target identity of the second mobile device, among the plurality of target mobile devices, to a first group identity, and mapping a target identity of a third mobile device, among the plurality of target mobile devices, to a second group identity;
generating a radio resource control (RRC) message to be transmitted to the eNB, the RRC message comprising information of the target identity of the second mobile device and information of the target identity of the third mobile device;
transmitting the RRC message to the eNB;
generating a MAC-layer message to be transmitted to the eNB, the MAC-layer message comprising a first field that indicates mapping information between the first group identity and the target identity of the second mobile device and a second field that indicates mapping information between the second group identity and the target identity of the third mobile device; and
transmitting the MAC-layer message to the eNB.
