Claim of US Patent No. 10,117,268

1. An apparatus for managing user equipment (UE) communications in a wireless communication system, comprising:means for receiving, at a user equipment (UE), a data structure transmitted by a network entity on a downlink channel, the data structure comprising:
one or more resource element blocks into which a frequency bandwidth of a downlink channel is divided within a symbol, wherein the symbol is one of multiple symbols in a downlink subframe and defines a transmission time interval, and wherein at least one resource element block of the one or more resource element blocks defines, within the symbol, both of a control region for receiving control communications from the network entity and a data region for receiving data communications from the network entity; and
a downlink resource grant located within the control region;
means for performing a check on the control region to determine if the control information is for the UE;
means for determining, based at least in part on the means for performing the check, a position of the data region based on the downlink resource grant; and
means for receiving, at the determined position, data for the UE in the data region.
