A device for mass transfer between blood and a gas/gas mixture, comprising a chamber configured for flow of blood therethrough and in which hollow fibers which are mass-permeable, are connected by and held at a spacing from one another by warp threads and are disposed in a form of a wound or folded hollow fiber package configured as layers of the hollow fibers which are connected by and held at a spacing from one another by warp threads, and the device being configured so that a transfer medium is able to flow through, and blood is able to flow around, the hollow fibers, wherein density of hollow fibers varies locally in the hollow fiber package within individual cross-sections of the entire hollow fiber package perpendicular to length of the hollow fibers and independently of any varying of area of the cross-sections of the entire hollow fiber package perpendicular to length of the hollow fibers so that the hollow fiber package has at least one region of lower hollow fiber density than another region, and wherein said at least one region of lower hollow fiber density comprises at least one placeholder inserted into the hollow fiber package at least at an axial end of the hollow fiber package and interposed between two mutually adjacent hollow fiber layers of the hollow fiber layers of the hollow fiber package, the placeholder being separate from and not being connected to the hollow fibers of the hollow fiber package by the warp threads.

(iii) means cooperating with said distributor for receiving and directing the flow of said incoming fluid through a filter when fitted within said enclosure; and,
(d) said displaceable separator including
(i) at least one radial protrusion functionally paired with the at least one protrusion on said mounting structure, said paired protrusions adapted to receive opposing forces to displace said separator in a first direction relative to said mounting structure,
(ii) at least another radial protrusion functionally paired with at least another protrusion on said mounting structure, said paired protrusions adapted to receive opposing forces to displace said separator in a second direction relative to said mounting structure,
(iii) a plurality of wedges having substantially the same predetermined height, angle and length and being configured for selective engagement between corresponding pins on said enclosure and the flange on said lid when said pins are substantially within the corresponding slots on said lid; and,
(e) said seal is a deformable seal engaged between said first and second seats;
whereby (i) said seal is compressed when the seats are drawn together as the wedges are advanced between the pins and the flange in response to displacement of said separator in said first direction and (ii) said seal is released when the seats are allowed to disengage as the wedges are withdrawn from between the pins and the flange in response to displacement of said separator in said second direction.

removal brushes each of which has a brush main body and bristles planted on an outer periphery of the brush main body and is provided in a corresponding one of the filter elements so as to be reciprocatingly movable in the filter element in opposite axial directions of the filter element between the opposite ends of the filter element by flows of the fluid in the axial directions generated during filtration or backwashing, while the bristles slide in contact with an inner periphery of the filter element so as to remove an object trapped and adhered to the inner periphery, the axial direction of the fluid flow generated during backwashing being toward either of the opposite ends of the filter element depending on which of the opposite end openings is connected to one of the backwashing pipes; and
a backwashing fluid drain pipe for discharging, to the outside of the casing, the trapped object removed by each of the removal brushes that is reciprocatingly moved by the fluid flows generated while backwashing the corresponding filter element, the backwashing fluid drain pipe being coupled to the discharge side of the pair of backwashing pipes,
wherein each of the pair of backwashing pipes has a connecting port and a blind lid provided to the connecting port, the connecting ports being configured to be connected to the opposite end openings of each of the filter elements, each of the blind lids being long enough to cover the end openings of any adjacent two of the filter elements and extending asymmetrically with respect to the corresponding backwashing pipe so that a longer portion of one of the blind lids extends toward the opening of one of the adjacent two filter elements and a longer portion of the other one of the blind lids extends toward the opening of the other one of the adjacent two filter elements, and
wherein when either one of the pair of backwashing pipes is connected to an end opening of one of the filter elements and the corresponding removal brush has been moved to this end opening, the bristles of the removal brush are flexed by the pressure of the fluid flow toward this end opening in the filter element such that a gap is created between the bristles and the inner periphery of the filter element.

calculating a fluence map having a final set of beamlet intensity weights xk by adjusting the initial beamlet intensity weights according to a proximal gradient method (xk?1?xk) with a penalty function containing one or more linear penalties that iterates on the initial beamlet intensity weights until the adjusted beamlet intensity weights converge on a final set of beamlet intensity weights such that changes between iterations of the beamlet intensity weights are less than a predetermined residual criterion.

the second frame operable to couple a second applicator to the second body region to direct treatment energy thereto for non-invasive fat reduction; and
a connector, the first frame and the second frame connected or linked by the connector,
wherein the first aperture and the second aperture are arranged in a layout to isolate body tissue, wherein the layout facilitates altering temperature of body tissue using a non-invasive treatment system; and
wherein the system further comprising the first applicator, wherein the first fastening member attaches the first applicator to the first frame, the first applicator comprising a third skin contacting surface, the first applicator altering temperature of the at least one portion of the first body region, wherein the non-invasive treatment system comprises the first applicator.
