b) separating a partial amount of the terephthalic acid from the reaction mixture by crystallization and filtration to obtain crude terephthalic acid and a mother liquor; wherein the mother liquor comprises trimellitic acid, the promoter, at least one metal salt, water and the aliphatic carboxylic acid;
c) dividing the mother liquor into a recycle stream and a purge stream; wherein the ratio of the amount of the recycle stream and the purge stream is in the range from 19:1 to 4:1; and recycling the recycle stream to step (a);
d) extracting p-xylene soluble chemicals from the purge stream by adding p-xylene to the purge stream and mixing at a predetermined temperature to obtain a biphasic mixture, which after separation, provides an organic stream and an aqueous stream; wherein the organic stream comprises p-xylene, the aliphatic carboxylic acid and the oxidation intermediates of terephthalic acid, and the aqueous stream comprises the aliphatic carboxylic acid, trimellitic acid, the promoter and at least one metal salt;
e) recycling the organic stream comprising p-xylene, the aliphatic carboxylic acid and the oxidation intermediates of terephthalic acid to step (a); and
f) recovering at least one metal salt from the aqueous stream and recycling the recovered metal salt to step (a);
wherein, the concentration of trimellitic acid in the reaction mixture is below 2000 ppm.

1. A system for evaluating application performance, comprising: a processor configured to:receive a plurality of external resource access calls that access a plurality of external resources, the plurality of external resources comprising at least a database resource and a web service resource;
process the plurality of external resource access calls, including for each external resource access call:
invoking an instrumented function that includes an original function that accesses an external resource and monitoring code to monitor the performance of invoking the original function;
determine a response time associated with said each external resource access call;
determine whether the response time associated with said each external resource access call exceeds a response time threshold;
use a result of the determination as a basis for whether to further process the external resource access call, including:
in the event that the response time exceeds the response time threshold:
capture a runtime attribute associated with the external resource access call that exceeds the response time threshold; and
mark the external resource access call that exceeds the response time threshold for post processing to obtain diagnostic information;
in the event that the response time does not exceed the response time threshold:
omit capturing the runtime attribute and omit marking with respect to the external resource access call that does not exceed the response time threshold; and
perform post processing on the each marked external resource access call exceeding the response time threshold using at least in part the captured runtime attribute to obtain additional performance information, wherein performing post processing includes invoking a post processing function corresponding to the marked external resource access call using the corresponding captured runtime attribute, wherein the post processing function includes additional diagnostic code used to analyze the original function that accesses an external resource, and wherein the post processing function is different from the instrumented function; and
a memory coupled to the processor, configured to provide the processor with instructions.

when the original call session is restored at the VoIP core network, placing, at the VoIP core network and using the restored original call session, the first call on hold and making the connection for the second call to the second remote party so that a single call session is implemented in the cellular voice access network and audio from the second call to the second remote party is flowing over the single call session to the mobile device;
receiving, from the cellular voice access network and at the VoIP core network, a second request for a second new call session, the second request including a caller-ID identifying a designated called party number;
interpreting the designated called party number in the second request as a call control signal from the mobile device; and
when the VoIP network receives the caller-ID for the designated called party number, releasing, at the VoIP network, the second new call session before establishing audio flow between the mobile device and the VoIP core network.
