1. An image forming apparatus comprising:
an image bearing member on which an electrostatic latent image is formed;
a developing device that develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the image bearing member by using developer;
a temperature detecting portion that detects information regarding the temperature of the developer in the developing device;
a density detecting portion that detects a density of a control image formed on the image bearing member;
a controller that controls the amount of the developer supplied to the developing device based on the detection result of
the density of the control image and a target value; and

a change portion that changes an electric potential difference between an electric potential of the electrostatic latent image
of the control image and a DC bias applied to the developing device or the target value so as to suppress a variation in the
amount of charged developer in the developing device, based on the detection result acquired by the temperature detecting
portion,

wherein a first period during which only a DC bias is applied and a second period during which an AC bias is applied are alternated
in the developing device, and the controller decreases the first period in a case where the temperature of the developer rises
based on the detection result acquired by the temperature detecting portion.
