A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions to execute a computer-implemented method for heating an item in a chamber of an electronic oven towards a target state comprising:heating the item with a set of applications of energy to the chamber while the electronic oven is in a respective set of physical configurations;
sensing, using an infrared sensor, sensor data that defines a respective set of responses by the item to the set of applications of energy;
generating a plan to heat the item in the chamber, wherein the generating is conducted by a control system of the electronic oven, and wherein the generating uses the sensor data;
conducting an optimization analysis to produce an optimization output; and
compiling a sequence of commands using the optimization output;
wherein the optimization analysis uses: (i) a convex optimization solver; (ii) data representing the target state; and (iii) data representing the respective set of responses;
wherein the electronic oven executes the sequence of commands to heat the item towards the target state; and
wherein the set of applications of energy and respective set of physical configurations define a respective set of variable distributions of energy in the chamber.

1. An electronic oven with a set of reflective elements for controllinga distribution of heat in the electronic oven, comprising:
a chamber;
a microwave energy source coupled to an injection port in the chamber;
a set of dielectric spindles that extend through a set of perforations in the chamber;
a set of motors connected to the set of dielectric spindles; and
a controller that controls the set of motors;
wherein the set of reflective elements are held above a surface of the chamber by the set of dielectric spindles;
wherein the set of motors rotate the set of reflective elements via the set of dielectric spindles;
wherein the controller stores instructions that independently cause a rotation of each reflective element in the set of reflective elements using the set of motors; and
wherein the set of motors, the set of reflective elements, and the set of dielectric spindles are each sets of at least three units.

a microwave energy source coupled to an injection port in the chamber;
a visible light sensor;
an infrared light sensor;
a controller communicatively coupled to the visible light sensor, the infrared light sensor, and the microwave energy source; and
a non-transitory computer-readable medium on the controller that stores instructions to:
generate a preprocessed sensor dataset, wherein the generation of the preprocessed sensor dataset comprises: combining sensor data from the visible light sensor and sensor data from the infrared light sensor;
evaluate, using the preprocessed sensor dataset, the combined sensor data from the visible light sensor and sensor data from the infrared light sensor;
generate a splatter prediction in response to the evaluation of the combined sensor data from the visible light sensor and sensor data from the infrared light sensor; and
decrease a power level of the microwave energy source in response to the splatter prediction.
