a detection unit that detects rotation of said wheel; and
a control unit that, on the basis of the detection result of said detection unit and the fluorescence characteristic of said wheel, changes an intensity of said excitation light such that a change in intensity of the fluorescence emitted by the wheel during one rotation of the wheel is reduced,

1. A projector in an illumination optical system, the projector comprising:
a laser light source;
a synchronization signal processor that converts synchronization signals that are synchronized with video signals input from
outside the projector into video signals to be used inside the projector;

an LD driver that controls a lighting state of the laser light source according to the synchronization signals output from
the synchronization signal processor;

an LED (Light Emitting Diode) light source;
an LED driver that controls a lighting state of the LED light source according to the synchronization signals output from
the synchronization signal processor;

a rotational state detector that detects a rotational state of a phosphor wheel; and
a phosphor wheel driver that, based on a detected result of the rotational state detector, controls the rotational state of
the phosphor wheel such that a color of a video signal indicated by one of the synchronization signals output by the synchronization
signal processor matches a color output by the illumination optical system that indicates the rotational state of the phosphor
wheel detected by the rotational state detector,

wherein the phosphor wheel includes a transparent region that allows light of all wavelengths to pass therethrough, and
wherein the illumination optical system comprises a recursive mechanism that causes light that has passed through the transparent
region to be incident on the phosphor wheel again.

1. A display device that is daisy-chained to a signal source that outputs a video signal based on an encryption protocol, and transmits an encryption key used for encryption to the signal source, the display device comprising:a display that forms a video image corresponding to the video signal;
a storage that stores the encryption key of an own display device, and the encryption keys of all of downstream side display devices that are provided on a downstream side of the own display device among all of the other display devices that are daisy-chained, the encryption keys being transmitted to the signal source through the own display device when the display devices are daisy-chained to the signal source; and
a controller that causes said display to form a split video image that is a part of a video image based on the number of splits of the video image corresponding to the video signal and the number of encryption keys stored in said storage.
